Ada M. Babino is the writer, producer and director of Middle Passage –N- Roots, a docu-drama that explores the diverse opinions, identity concerns, and styles of black hair. She produced a 1999 television documentary on jazz legend Shirley Horn for BET On Jazz Cable network. Over the past fifteen years, she has worked on many independent projects in a variety of roles as a; free-lance producer, production manager, assistant director, and video technician. She served as Line Producer for the highly acclaimed independent film, Sankofa, and publicist during its 1994-95 national limited commercial A native from San Antonio, Texas, Ms. Babino received a degree in Broadcast Production from Howard University’s School of Communications in 1986.
Ms. Babino is the owner of Jezebel Filmworks, a production service company in Washington, DC. She is also founder of Nommo Speaker’s Bureau, a booking agency for Black Independent Filmmakers, and the Blackfilmmakers.net website.
