Sowande Tichawonna, an independent filmmaker from Washington, D.C., earned his B.A. in broadcast production from Howard University in 1985. Tichawonna wrote, produced and directed Talkin' Shop, a short film about a local barbershop in Washington, D.C., where no topic is off limits for discussion. Talkin' Shop was shot in one day and marks his directorial debut in film.
Tichawonna completed the screenplay, A Matter of Principle, a feature film which he plans to produce and direct. He is a recipient of the District of Columbia's Mayor's Arts Award 2000 for Outstanding Emerging Artist. Based in Washington, DC with his wife and son, he involves himself in various projects as a free-lance technician and producer.
